It was a very sad day. Riley started eating a little at first and then stopped again. She had a heart condition for over a year but with some management she was doing fine. The vet said that her heart condition was finally getting near the end and that we could take her to a heart specialist and maybe be able to keep her going for another couple months. We did not want her last couple months to be spent with a bunch of prodding, poking and spending a ton of time dealing with the vets and who knows what else. We felt it would severely degrade her quality of life and likely make it miserable for her. Therefore we took her in to the vet and said our final goodbyes. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. We had Riley since she was a tiny puppy where I could hold her in the palm of a single hand, over 15 years. We miss her so much. We love you Riley Girl!
